Supervision Rule

Once your new baby is home, if you do not have eyes on them, they should be in their crate. This prevents accidents and keeps them safe.

Safe Bedding Only

No dog beds with stuffing that can be eaten/ingested and cause impaction in your baby's tummy. Stick to safe, non-destructible options.

Safe Toys & Chews

Yes to safe dog chews and toys for your puppy while crated. Choose items specifically designed for unsupervised play.

Mealtime in Crate

Feed them their meals in the crate with door shut. Give them 10 minutes to eat, then take the food away - no free choice feeding!

When baby goes outside and goes potty, this is an ideal time to give them some supervised house time with you as a reward.

CRUCIAL: First Crate Sessions

The first few times you put the puppy in the crate, being in the new environment, they could cry/scream/act like they're dying. YOU MUST walk away and not speak to them, react, or put fingers in the crate. If you can't stand it, leave the room and close the door. This is CRUCIAL for success!

Listen for Potty Signals

If the puppy has been quiet in the crate and suddenly makes noise, they may need to potty. Get them outside right away! Use "go potty" and "good potty" consistently.
